Adsorption, uptake and toxicity of micro- and nanoplastics
We are very happy to announce that our fourth paper has been published! The paper “Adsorption, uptake and toxicity of micro- and nanoplastics: Effects on terrestrial plants and aquatic macrophytes” is now available online. The paper reviews current literature on adsorption, uptake and toxicity of micro- and nanoplastics on plants and macrophytes. Published in the journal Environmental Pollution, the paper is published under Open Access and a PDF version can be downloaded.
The paper discusses adsorption and uptake of plastic particles by plants and macrophytes as well as the potential mechanisms that facilitate this.
Current knowledge on the impacts of micro- and nanoplastics on plant germination, elongation growth, biomass and photosynthesis are also reviewed. Key questions for future work are identified.
